CS Pediluxe – St Pancras International

As specialist entrance matting installers operating in London, SDS Matting’s connection with the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras International began long before the beautifully restored Victorian railway station’s doors opened in November 2007.

During the course of many meetings with the design team we submitted proposals leading to the specification of Pediluxe entrance matting, manufactured by Construction Specialties UK.  This product was selected for its high load bearing capabilities, necessary to cope with the footfall of millions of passengers per year, and its effective, absorbent textile inserts.

In addition to the high performance requirements of the matting, it was important that the matwells had sufficient depth to cope with potentially large amounts of water ingress through the entrances.  Here we provided a simple, cost effective solution in the form of heavy duty, open construction PVC interlocking tiles laid beneath the Aluminium entrance mats.

The specification proved to be a good one as the mats performed well for six years under extremely heavy use by millions of people with their luggage, before replacement became necessary.  Again SDS Matting were involved, replacing the mats with like for like product, laid within the existing matwells on the original underlay tiles.  To enable continuous use of the station entrances by the public, the work was carried out at night.
